Casino Arizona’s fresh CEO and leader, as well as Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, are well-versed in the industry. In his decades-long occupation in game, John Dinius has worked at nearly every stage of the game industry.
On February 15, the Board of Salt River Community Gaming Enterprises chose Dinius for the top position in the company, following extensive federal investigation. Talking Stick, owned and operated by the Salt River Pima – Maricopa Indian Community, is a part of this business.
Dinius will lead extensive renovations at the location.
Despite the presence of numerous tribal casinos across Arizona, there are currently no online casinos in the state. However, this may change in the future given that Arizona permits online sports betting.

Dennis Leong handed over the reins to Dinius after serving as Director for 13 years. Cota – Gann reported that Leong retired at the close of 2022.
Dennis brought grace and professionalism to Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort. He has loyally supported our business, guiding us through both challenging and prosperous times.
From the bingo venue to the workplace
Dinius & rsquo, having a comprehensive background in the casino industry, truly exemplifies depth and breadth. He started his career at the Sycuan Casino Resort in San Diego as a gambling check lifter and worked there for over 20 years.
Throughout his career, he has gained experience in nearly all facets of the gaming industry, including:

In a 2019 interview with Global Gaming Business Magazine, Dinius reflected on his early days at Sycuan.
I felt as though I had entered the job of a lifetime, & ldquo. It didn’t feel like function at all. I’ve only recently developed feelings for the visitors and the staff. Therefore, when I was introduced to the cultural members, I immediately felt at home. & rdquo,
Dinius’s tenure as general manager at Sycuan proved to be highly productive. Under his leadership, the establishment underwent a transformation, evolving from a mere game center to a significant location. He managed to drive up the number of property visits, set up one of the largest non-smoking zones in a California casino, and further developed the casino’s loyalty program.
His experience at Table Mountain was also significant, even though it was shorter than his tenure at Sycuan. During Dinias’s leadership, Table Mountain introduced a new multi-million dollar casino resort. The Salt River board was extremely impressed by this achievement.
Thanks to his significant role in large-scale initiatives, Dinius has gained special insight into the inner workings of the entertainment and hospitality business.
Talking Sticks Resort
Talking Stick Resort, a property located off the 101 Freeway in Scottsdale, started operating in 2010. It has since received multiple awards, three of which were for “Best Casino”. The resort offers many amenities including a beach.

The Cota – Gann, mentioned in her Dinius welcoming speech, will be a new poker building. According to Talking Stick Resort, it is a major renovation project and is set to premiere in 2024.
Pitbull, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Hollywood Vampires are among the stars who have given memorable performances on the beach. In a recent announcement by Live Nation in January, Talking Stick Resort has been recognized as the new title sponsor for the popular venue previously known as the Ak-Chin Pavilion. The venue will henceforth be known as Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater.
This year at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater, scheduled performers include musicians such as Shania Twain, Matchbox Twenty, and Janet Jackson.
Recently, Casino Arizona opened a new bingo hall and a taqueria as it approaches its 25th anniversary.
