First On The Tee: DraftKings Gains Access To Arizona Sports Betting Via TPC Scottsdale

National sports betting companies are vying for position in Arizona even though the enabling bill is still on the governor & rsquo’s desk.

Today, DraftKings became the first company to secure access through a complex partnership with TPC Scottsdale and the PGA Tour. Under the terms of the imminent legislation, the course – a favorite destination for golf enthusiasts and a regular stop on the Tour – is eligible to receive the primary sports betting license.

Prior to Wednesday’s opening bell, DraftKings issued a press release stating that they are planning to establish a ’19th Hole’ experience which will be centred around food, drink and gambling. This ‘premium retail sportsbook’ will be available to gamblers all year round. Furthermore, the deal will also provide access to online betting across the state, in a substantial market of approximately 5.5 million adults who are heavily interested in sports.

Norb Gambuzza, the Senior Vice President of Media and Gaming for The Tour & rsquo, commended the state for its innovative approach to sports betting regulation.

We are thrilled to partner with DraftKings, the City of Scottsdale, and the Thunderbirds to explore a unique sportsbook experience at TPC Scottsdale and the exceptional Waste Management Phoenix Open. Through this collaboration, we aim to enhance the fan experience significantly. The ‘Waste Management Phoenix Open’ is one of the most popular golf events.

This announcement broadens a pre-existing collaboration in which DraftKings was established as the PGA Tour’s inaugural official betting operator in 2020.

DraftKings is now available in Arizona.

There was never any doubt that DraftKings would eventually find a way into Arizona. The swift statement further underscores its broader national objectives. With nearly all US states offering legal sports betting, DraftKings stands out as one of the leading providers.

Furthermore, the relationship has a unique contract with the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Promoters assert that this will heighten its reputation as one of the PGA Tour’s most exciting events. The famous 16th hole is certainly one of the most entertaining to consider, even though a precise location for the sportsbook’s footprint has not yet been determined.

No matter its location, placing a bet at DraftKings Sportsbook AZ at TPC Scottsdale will be an exhilarating experience.

Ezra Kucharz, the Chief Business Officer of DraftKings, referred to the opportunity as a “vision,” indicating the forward-thinking mindset of both organizations.

He stated that this kind of implementation is likely to become increasingly common over time. For example, DraftKings is presently constructing a sportsbook next to Wrigley Field in Chicago, while its main competitor, FanDuel, runs a book at Meadowlands in New Jersey, located very close to MetLife Stadium.

In addition to regulating daily fantasy sports, the AZ sports betting bill also contains provisions that permit both operators to introduce their complementary product in the state for the first time.

Sports gambling in AZ is gaining popularity.

The law in Arizona is somewhat unique as it explicitly allows casinos in sports venues.

Venues, including those with seating capacities over 10,000, can collaborate with their home teams. TPC Scottsdale and Phoenix Raceway are two other potential locations for collaboration. The act allows each distributor to work with multiple providers. According to the wording in the press release, only specific elements of the DraftKings agreement are unique.

Regardless of whether TPC Scottsdale recruits new team members, competition is inevitable. FanDuel, meanwhile, offers a complete shift in market visibility. In truth, the registration system’s accessibility permits numerous companies. Indeed, there appears to be no limit on the number of coats each owner can acquire.

Arizona sports betting is anticipated to be signed into law by Gov. Doug Ducey, with the bill’s fiscal note projecting a minimum of $15.2 million in annual tax revenue by the fiscal year 2024. Considering its prominent location in Scottsdale and its performance in other parts of the US, DraftKings is expected to contribute significantly to this total.

You can bet on that.
