Rick Tocchet was the most recent head coach for the Arizona Coyotes. He was behind the bench for the past four seasons and led the Coyotes to one playoff appearance, where they would lose in the first round. The primary owner of the Arizona Coyotes is Alex Meruelo. Meruelo bought a controlling stake in the team in 2019 and has been the majority owner ever since. He holds significant parts of other companies across a variety of industries, including hospitality and food. Meruelo is the first-ever Latino NHL owner.
He bought his stake from Andrew Barroway, who still has a minority ownership role with the Coyotes. Barroway is a hedge fund manager who bought a 51% share of the Coyotes in 2014.
